About the Journal
|
J-SELINKOM: Journal of History, Linguistics, and Communication is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the dynamic intersection of human history, language evolution, and media communication. Positioned as a premier multidisciplinary scholarly forum, the journal serves historians, linguists, media scholars, cultural theorists, and communication experts worldwide. J-SELINKOM prioritizes macro-level historical evaluations, rigorous linguistic analyses, and empirical communication studies that address the complexities of human interaction, cultural transmission, and narrative building across time. By bridging historical contexts with contemporary linguistic and communicative phenomena, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how past events shape human language, and how modern media constructs, preserves, or alters historical truth and cultural identity in a rapidly globalizing world.
Scope and Topics
The journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, critical literature reviews, and empirical case studies that offer significant contributions to the following thematic areas:
History & Historiography: Archival and historical research, oral history, cultural heritage preservation, historical memory, and the socio-political impacts of landmark global or regional events.
Linguistics & Language Studies: Historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, critical discourse analysis (CDA), applied linguistics, and the structural evolution of human language in diverse cultural contexts.
Communication & Media Studies: Mass communication, digital and social media dynamics, journalism, corporate and public relations, intercultural communication, and visual communication.
The Nexus of History, Language, and Media: How historical narratives are framed in modern media, the evolution of political rhetoric, linguistic representation of historical trauma, and the democratization of information over time.
Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and timely dissemination of critical humanistic and social research, J-SELINKOM is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on significant historical commemorations, global linguistic phenomena, or disruptive shifts in digital communication and journalism may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.
Peer Review Process
J-SELINKOM enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and theoretical validity.
Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (qualitative, quantitative, archival, or mixed-methods), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic experts in the specific domains of history, linguistics, or communication.
Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on the intellectual merit, theoretical rigor, and practical applicability of the work to historical and cultural advancement.
Mission Statement: "The mission of J-SELINKOM is to deconstruct complex human narratives and catalyze inclusive, evidence-based cultural dialogue by exploring the profound connections between our past, our language, and our media. Grounded in the philosophy that a truthful understanding of history, the preservation of linguistic diversity, and the promotion of ethical communication are the absolute anchors for societal empathy, truth, and democratic resilience, the journal aims to democratize advanced knowledge by providing an unrestricted, high-impact platform for global scholarly dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse and rigorous methodological approaches—encompassing archival historiography, corpus linguistics, and media ethnography—J-SELINKOM seeks to empower humanists, inspire communication scholars, and shape progressive, informed public discourse worldwide."
