Journal of Islamic Pedagogy, Law and Society (JIPLS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the dynamic intersection of Islamic educational paradigms, jurisprudential developments (Fiqh), socio-cultural dynamics, and community transformation. Positioned as a premier interdisciplinary scholarly forum, the journal serves Islamic studies scholars, educationalists, socio-legal researchers, sociologists of religion, legal historians, and human rights policy analysts worldwide. JIPLS prioritizes rigorous empirical research, doctrinal legal studies, qualitative field research, historical-critical analyses, and conceptual models that examine how Islamic pedagogical methods cultivate civic values, how Islamic legal frameworks respond to contemporary societal shifts, and how socio-cultural practices shape religious understanding. By synthesizing pedagogical theory, legal jurisprudence, and sociological inquiry, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how Islamic thought and institutions contribute to resilient, moral, and pluralistic societies.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to analyze the tripartite synergy between learning systems, legal structures, and societal development, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic literature reviews, comparative legal studies, and empirical socio-religious evaluations within the following thematic areas:
  • Islamic Pedagogy & Character Formation: Traditional and modern Islamic teaching methodologies, curriculum design in madrasahs and universities, character education (Tarbiyah, Ta'dib, Tazkiyah), values education, and critical pedagogy in Islamic contexts.
  • Islamic Law, Jurisprudence & Contemporary Society: Dynamic interpretations of Fiqh, legal maxims (Qawa'id Fiqhiyyah), family law reform, human rights in Islamic legal thought, minority jurisprudence (Fiqh al-Aqalliyyat), and bioethics in Islamic law.
  • Socio-Cultural Dynamics & Civil Society: Interactions between Islamic principles and local traditions ('Urf), religious pluralism, interfaith relations, civil society empowerment, and Islamic non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Gender, Youth & Community Development: Gender discourse in Islamic pedagogy and law, youth identity formation, family structures, social welfare programs, and community-based social justice initiatives.
  • Digital Culture, Media & Islamic Education: Digital pedagogy in Islamic studies, online religious authority, social media influence on socio-legal discourse, and cyber-ethnography of digital Muslim communities.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of multidisciplinary research, JIPLS is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on socio-legal adaptations in contemporary Muslim societies, digital Islamic pedagogy, or reform in family law may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
JIPLS enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and methodological validity across Islamic studies, education, law, and sociology disciplines.
  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (qualitative field rigor, doctrinal legal precision, textual/conceptual analysis depth, or empirical social science design), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic experts, legal scholars, or sociologists in the relevant domain.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, theoretical/doctrinal rigor, analytical clarity, and potential societal or policy impact.
